#P2 Pagan short (11 minutes)

(You will need a cord long enough to wrap around your joined hands and be tied.)

Opening: We gather within this sacred space to witness and bless the union of _________ and _________. Today, they choose to merge their paths, creating a sanctuary of love and a fortress of mutual support for all their days.

Let us take a moment to acknowledge the sacred space we occupy. We stand at the center of the crossroads, where the worlds meet: the world of flesh and the world of spirit. Here, we are held by the Earth our mother and crowned by the Sky our father.

The path that has led _________ and _________ to this crossroads was theirs to walk alone. But from this day forward, they choose to walk as one, their paths merging into a single, more powerful trail. They come to declare their union before the Old Gods, the spirits of this land, and you, their beloved community.

So let the veil between the worlds thin. Let the elements bear witness. For this is more than a ceremony; it is a rite of passage and a act of magic

Calling the Elements: We invite the divine elements to witness and bless this union.
Powers of Air, grant them clear communication and joyful spirits.
Powers of Fire, grant them enduring passion and inner strength.
Powers of Water, grant them deep empathy and a flowing, adaptable love.
Powers of Earth, grant them unwavering stability and a nurturing home.
So may it be.

The Charge: _____ and ____, you stand now at the heart of the sacred circle. The Gods and Goddesses of the hearth, the forest, and the forge smile upon you. The love you share is a manifestation of their divine creativity. Remember that your marriage is a living tradition, a craft you will practice every day. It will require the courage of the warrior, the wisdom of the seer, and the compassion of the healer. Nurture it as you would a sacred spring by protecting it, honor it, and let it flow freely.

Declaration of Intent: Do you both enter this sacred union of your own free will, vowing to honor the Divine within one another and to walk this path together?

Ring Exchange: As a symbol of the sacred intent you have just declared, you will now exchange rings. These rings, circles without end, symbolize a love that is eternal.___, as you place the ring, please repeat: I give you this ring, as a token of my vow and a sign of our endless love.

Handfasting: (The Priestess drapes the cord over their joined hands.)
This cord symbolizes the life you now bind together.
Will you both honor this bond with love and respect for all your days?
(Priestess wraps the cord around their hands and ties it.)
Your lives are now joined. Blessed be.

The Vows: ___, please repeat after me: I, ___, take you, ___, as my partner and my equal. I honor the Divine within you.

I vow to be stewards of your shared energy, weaving a home of magic, respect, and love

I promise to be your shelter in the storm, your comfort in times of sorrow, and your joyful companion in the light.

I swear to walk your path beside you in truth, always honoring your spirit and growth.
My love for you is as constant as the turning earth. This is my solemn vow. So mote it be.

Pronouncement: Before the gods and goddesses, the elements, and this company, by the power vested in me, I now pronounce you married and joyful partners in this life!

Closing: We thank the gods, the goddesses, the elements, and all present for blessing this union. Go forth in love and harmony.

Kiss: You may now seal your sacred vows with a kiss!

May the past be honored and released, making space for new light to grow between you. Let only clarity and pure intention for this shared journey remain.

Sacred Circle: (Priestess now places stones in the four directions.)
With the space prepared, we now establish the sacred circle, calling upon the wisdom of the four directions to witness and bless this union.

Earth Ritual: (The couple is given a vessel of water.)
Please, take this vessel and pour it together onto the earth as I speak.
Just as this water sustains all life, may your love be a source of mutual nourishment. As it returns to the earth, your union becomes a promise to nurture and protect the world around you, creating a legacy of growth and beauty.

Shared Cup Ritual: (The couple is handed a single, shared cup.)
Please, hold this cup together, a symbol of your lives now joined.
Now, raise it up together.

Look into one another's eyes, and drink to the enduring journey ahead.

Kiss: Go now with earth's blessing. Your love is the wild that endures. Seal this blessed union... with a kiss.

#P6 Buddhist (approximately 8 minutes)

Opening: We have come together to witness the spiritual and worldly union of two very special souls. Marriage is one of the most exceptional and elevating undertakings in life and I am so glad to see these two individuals have found themselves in this beautiful, lasting commitment. The Buddha taught us about Dharma and Sangha which encompasses both embracing the truth and living a righteous life and marriage is a beautiful way to embrace those teachings in this life.

Reading: Buddha said… Do not deceive, do not despise each other anywhere. Do not be angry nor bear secret resentments; for as a mother will risk her life and watches over her child, so boundless be your love to all, so tender, kind and mild. Cherish good will right and left, early and late, and without hindrance, without stint, be free of hate and envy, while standing and walking and sitting down, whatever you have in mind, the rule of life that is always best Is to be loving-kind.

Vows: ______ and _____, please join hands and reply together.
Do you both pledge to help each other to grow your hearts and your minds while staying true to the teachings and wisdom of Buddha? Do you both aim to live a life of tranquility, patience, tolerance, and compassion?
The path of life is never static and comes with its own ups and downs. As a couple, you must weather the storms and always persevere with each other in a spirit of tolerance and patience. Do you promise to look at the many aspects of each situation and never give in to negative thinking and assumption with regards to each other?
Do you pledge to let your love grow and radiate to all those around you including loved ones and those that cross your path on this journey of life? Being self-absorbed and not sharing love and kindness is against the Buddhist way of life, do you promise to uphold the practice of compassion in your married life?
Every individual is but a mystery to himself or herself. We are all living beings shrouded in this mystery. Do you pledge to walk this path together, discovering each other and the meaning of life while maintaining a sense of curiosity and wonderment?
Do you promise to remember that all is transient and temporary and that you must refrain from attachment to material gains and instead hold true to each other as is the Buddha nature?

Ring Exchange: Your promises are now made. To honor these vows, you will exchange rings as a tangible reminder of your commitment. In this practice, let these circles be symbols not of possession, but of endless, flowing love and the interconnected nature of all things. They are a reminder to bring mindfulness and compassion to every interaction.

___, as you place the ring on ___'s finger, you may repeat after me: I offer you this ring as a symbol of my love and devotion. May it remind us both of the promises we have made today.

Declaration: _______________ and _______________, you have come here today and in the presence of witnesses, have declared your love for one another.

Pronouncement: By the power vested in me and by the wishes of this beautiful couple, I now pronounce you married!

Kiss: If you wish, you may now share a kiss!

#P7 Indigenous Inspired (approximately 10 minutes)

(You will need a pot with soil in it, and a seed.)

Intro: ___ and ____, you have chosen to be joined here, in the heart of the living world. In the spirit of the first peoples of this land, we recognize that this Earth does not belong to us; we belong to it. We are all connected: the soil, the stone, the water, the creatures, and our own hearts.
Today, you will walk a new path together on this sacred Earth, not as owners, but as grateful children of the world, vowing to be good relatives to one another and to all creation.

The Acknowledgment of the Sacred Relatives:
Before you make your vows, we offer a moment of gratitude to the elements of life that sustain and witness us.

To the Earth: We feel the strength of the Earth beneath our feet. It is our foundation and our provider. May your love be as stable and nurturing as the ground that holds you.
To the Water: We hear the whisper of the Water in the streams and the rain. It is the flow of life and emotion. May your love be as adaptable and cleansing as the river, always finding its way.
To the Fire: We feel the warmth of the Fire in the sun above. It is the spark of passion, spirit, and life. May your love be as warm and energizing as the sun's rays.
To the Air: We feel the breath of the Air, the wind that surrounds us. It is the carrier of song, story, and communication. May your words to one another always be as clear and life-giving as the air you breathe.

The Vows: ____ and ____, you will now make your promises to one another. Please face each other and repeat after me.
I, ____, take you,____, as my partner.
I vow to walk with you as a sacred relative.
To honor your spirit as I honor the Earth.
To be your shelter in storm, and your companion in sun.
I promise to walk this path of life with you,
In harmony, respect, and love,
For all our days to come.

Ring Exchange: The promises you have made are now part of the great circle of life. To honor them, you will exchange rings. Like the path of the sun and the turn of the seasons, a ring is a sacred circle. It has no beginning and no end, representing a love that is eternal and a commitment that is continuous. Let these rings be made of the metal of the Earth, a physical reminder of the vows you have spoken to be good relatives, today and always.
____, as you place the ring on ____'s finger, please repeat after me: With this sacred circle, I join my life to yours.

The Unity Ritual: The Promise of Stewardship
Your love is not a private thing; it is a new force of harmony in the world. To honor this, you will now make a shared promise of stewardship.
This seed is a gift from the Earth. In planting it together, you make a vow. You vow that your union will not only take from the world, but will also give back. You vow to nurture and protect the life around you, just as you vow to nurture and protect each other. Your marriage will be a shelter, a source of growth and beauty for all your relations: human, plant, and animal.
Let this act be a living reminder that your love is rooted in respect for all life. As you care for this seed, and the plant it will become, you reaffirm your commitment to be keepers of a harmonious world.

The Final Blessing: ____ and ____, your path is now one. Walk it together with reverence and joy.
Walk in harmony with the seasons of your life.
Walk with respect for the ground you tread.
Walk with gratitude for the love you share.
May your journey be long, your burdens light, and your hearts forever united in the great circle of life.

Pronouncement: By the power vested in me, I now pronounce you married!

Kiss: You may seal your sacred promise with a kiss.

Vow Renewal Ceremonies

VR6 with hand-fasting

*You will need a 5-6 ft cord or ribbon

We stand where heaven and earth touch—to honor a love that has deepened like roots and blazed like starlight. ______ & ______, you return to this altar not out of obligation, but because your souls still whisper: ‘Choose me again.’
Will you renew this sacred covenant today?
"We will."

In the beginning, the Universe whispered:
I shall breathe myself into two vessels—
so they may discover Me in each other.”
And so your souls were spun
from the same primordial stardust—
Roots tangled in Earth’s dreaming,
Hearts echoing the same cosmic hum.
Every shared dawn, every tear, every road wandered—
has been a prayer:
See how the Divine dances
in the space between your hands?
Today, you affirm the Great Mystery:
You are not two who chose love—
but Love who chose to breathe as two.

So let your vows be a hymn to Oneness:
Where one breath ends, the other begins.
Where one falls silent, the other soul answers.
Where one shadow walks, the others light awaits.
For in this holy entanglement—
You mend the fractured world
simply by existing as One.

Do you choose each other as eternal companions, as starlight embracing the night, as roots seeking deep earth?
"We do."
Do you vow to honor your holy rhythm, the coffee poured at dawn’s first blush, adventures written in shared, laughter and open roads, and the tender friction that ignites your growth?
"We do."
Will you shelter each other: as sanctuary through storms, as compass through uncertainty, each as keeper of the other’s wild, beautiful soul?
"We will.
Do you recommit to truly SEEING each other, not as memory, but as a miracle unfolding? Not as past, but as eternal becoming vulnerable, strong, gloriously imperfect?
"We do."

(Officiant drapes cord over their joined hands)
This cord binds what your hearts have already woven.
As I tie this knot, remember:
(First loop) For your ROOTS, where scars bloomed into wisdom. This is your foundation.
(Second loop) For your PRESENT, this breath, this touch, this sacred aliveness thrumming between your palms.
(Third loop) For your FUTURE, ablaze with unwritten dawns, where your love spirals onward.
(Tie knot firmly) Feel this knot, no beginning, no end. Past, Presence, Promise, intertwined like your souls.
Bound by love, blessed by time. Carry this covenant in your hands, a compass for all your tomorrows.

Do you vow to honor this bond as a covenant, unbreakable as time, holy as silence?
"We vow."

By starlight and soil, by tears and triumphs… You are RENEWED!
Seal this promise with a kiss that echoes through eternity."

Go now—hand in hand, soul in soul. May your love be a compass for wanderers, a hearth for the weary, proof that heaven lives in the daily choosing.

I present to you: ______ & ______
Bound not by chance, but by sacred, stubborn joy!"

VR7 with the 4 elements

We gather where earth meets sky to honor a covenant already woven into being - the sacred bond between ___ and ___. What began as a promise has become a living sanctuary. Today, they reconsecrate their union before the wisdom of the elements that have sustained them.

Spirits of the East: Breath of Air! You who have carried their laughter through seasons. Bless them anew with curiosity’s spark and peace that flows like mountain wind.
Spirits of the South: Essence of Fire! You who have forged their resilience in challenges. Ignite their courage with enduring warmth. May their passion burn clear as starlight.
Spirits of the West: Flow of Water! You who have cleansed their tears and quenched their thirst. Deepen their intuition’s current. Let love move with the river’s patient strength.
Spirits of the North: Heart of Earth! You who have grounded them through changing years. Nourish their roots with gratitude’s richness. May their partnership grow like ancient oaks.

Please face each-other and join hands, palm to palm.
Do you vow to continue sharing each other’s burdens? To shelter the growth of each other’s soul? To seek light even in life’s shadows? To champion each other’s becoming? To temper conflict into wisdom’s forge? And too walk always as sacred equals?
“I do”

Now let the earth rise to meet you. May your roots drink the wisdom of soil, growing deeper with every season turned, grounded in gratitude that needs no toil. Let waters cleanse and carry you, where stillness holds your reflection true, each tear a river, each joy a sea, fluid as love’s own mystery. Breathe in the winds that stir your soul, scattering seeds where new dreams unroll: light as dandelion, fierce as storm, air’s wild grace keeping you warm. And when night falls, let fire be your tongue, courage forged where shadows clung, two embers blazing through the dark, writing constellations with every spark. So walk as one, yet twice as bright: elements dancing in shared light.

By the resilience you’ve nurtured and the love you tend, by Air’s breath, fire’s transformation, water’s depth, and earth’s endurance, ___ and ___,your partnership is eternally renewed!

Let your kiss be a prayer of gratitude to the forces that have sustained you and a promise to the journey ahead.

(Couple kisses)

To the guardians of the East: Thank you for clarity. To the keepers of the South: Thank you for warmth. To the spirits of the West: Thank you for flow. To the wisdom of the North: Thank you for grounding. May you carry these elemental blessings into every dawn yet to unfold. The circle is complete.
